LIZ PAPPADEMAS

Liz Pappademas (b. 1979, pronouns: she/her/hers) is a singer-songwriter, pianist, and educator.

Born in a New York City Checker taxicab and raised in San Francisco, Liz graduated from Berkle College of Music, where she won the SESAC Award for songwriting and a John Lennon
Songwriting Contest scholarship.

Touring both solo and with various bands, Liz began her professional career in Austin, Texas, with her trio, Hurts to Purr. She has performed three times at the South by Southwest music festival and has been featured in Electronic Musician magazine and NPR's All Songs Considered.

Known for poetic lyrics and affecting melodies, Liz is influenced by changemakers like Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, Annea Lockwood, and Eiko Ishibashi— artists who push stylistic boundaries to reimagine traditional instrumentation and environmental sound.

Almost ten years ago, drawing on her own struggles in traditional education, Liz shifted her focus to supporting neurodiverse students in K-12 schools, finding that her background in music
provided unexpected tools for pattern finding and understanding different learning needs.

Maiden Names, the band Liz is currently writing and performing with, will release a new record in 2025.
